Individualised care and choice

We put our residents first by offering choices to suit individual care, dining and lifestyle preferences.

Our dedicated and compassionate team of staff support our residents with 24/7 personal care, clinical services, and lifestyle and wellness opportunities. Our metropolitan homes have a registered nurse onsite 24 hours per day. While our regional homes have a combination of skilled enrolled and registered nurses available 24 hours a day.

We provide enjoyable dining experiences that are thoughtfully created and full of choice. Our residents can choose from a daily menu which includes a range of meals that are prepared and cooked onsite by our chefs and hospitality team. Menus are available in the dining rooms and are reviewed for summer and winter dining, with residents providing feedback and suggestions to help create menus that are appealing to them.

Therapy dog

Meet Clover the Therapy Dog

Clover is a regular visitor who has been with Southern Cross Care for several years and is beloved by many residents.

For those residents who have had to let go of their pets or just want a pat or a cuddle Clover is happy to oblige and brings joy to all those involved.

Health and wellness

We prioritise our residents ongoing health and wellness goals, ensuring regular clinical assessments by our qualified nurses and a range of onsite allied health services including physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy, speech therapy, dietician, and psychology. We provide onsite dementia support services as required and have specialist trained staff to support residents living with dementia.

The health and wellbeing of all residents is our priority, which is why we encourage residents and their families to provide the latest health information from their doctors and maintain connections with their existing medical and health professionals.

Community and lifestyle

Companionship and community spirit are at the heart of our varied and interesting lifestyle program, with a calendar of activities and events for residents to enjoy each day.

Activities will vary from time to time, but could include:

– Exercise activities tailored to individual capabilities
– Live concerts/performances
– Craft groups that encourage creativity
– Armchair travel days exploring different parts of the world
– Bingo
– Art/pet therapy

Pastoral care

At SCC (WA) we have an engaged group of pastoral carers who devote themselves to listening and to conversation with residents.

It is an added service that we offer to all our residents to ensure they feel settled, comfortable and happy. Our pastoral carers (often volunteers) are trained to listen perceptively and share life sensitively and joyously. They support our residents, clients and their families and try to help reframe changes brought about by the adventure of aging. When an individual enters one of our residential care homes, a pastoral carer will make contact as soon as possible to introduce themselves. If desired, the pastoral carer will pop in on a regular basis for one-on-one visits with residents and their families where needed.
