Our History

The name of our home derives from the late St John of God Sister, Germanus Kent, who spent four decades working with First Nations people of the Kimberley. In her work, she became concerned about the lack of aged care facilities in the Kimberley that supported Aboriginal people in their choice to remain on Country and connected to their families and community. In September 1991, her dream was fulfilled when Germanus Kent House opened. Southern Cross Care (WA) took over management of the home in 2001 with a new building constructed in 2008.
