Catering for up to 57 residents, Joseph Cooke House in Shelley is located just one kilometre from the banks of the Canning River.

The home features spacious single rooms (each with their own ensuite), wide corridors and multiple sun-lit sitting areas for residents and visitors to enjoy. 

Our qualified clinical care team are on site 24/7 and our compassionate and friendly staff are committed to providing excellent care in a comfortable and compassionate environment. 

All our residents have tailored care, activity, and dietary plans, and can take advantage of onsite amenities including a hairdressing salon and covered alfresco area with barbecue.

The onsite chapel provides a place for quiet reflection, and residents are welcome to attend the regular mass services.

Our History

Joseph Cooke House was named after Senator Joseph Cooke who was a Knight of the Southern Cross and a founding member of the Board of Southern Cross Care Homes Inc. He eventually became a Senator in the Commonwealth Parliament and President of the ALP in Western Australia.

What are the different room types and what is the cost?  

All rooms have easy access to the outdoor garden area and are close to the communal areas and the nurses’ station. Natural light filters through the rooms via the large mid-floor to ceiling windows, with views of landscaped gardens. Ensuites are within sight of each bed and all bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas include emergency call bells.

At Joseph Cooke House the following room types are available:

Superior Deluxe Room

These private rooms are at least 29m² in size and include a spacious ensuite, built-in wardrobes, shelves, lockable storage, and a bedside table.

Residents can choose to pay for their accommodation by a refundable deposit, a daily payment or a combination of both. A refundable deposit is paid as a lump sum amount. A daily payment accrues daily and is paid periodically, for example monthly. A combination payment includes both a partial lump sum and daily payments.
