Residents at Victoria Park House (VPH) were recently treated to something extraordinary, a private concert by members of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO). The special event, which also caught the attention of the Kalgoorlie Miner, filled the home with music, smiles and a sense of community pride.
WASO musicians were in Kalgoorlie preparing for their upcoming regional tour of the Goldfields and South West, which included a performance at the Goldfields Arts Centre in Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Before taking the stage in front of a large audience, four of the orchestra’s talented musicians from the String Quartet chose to share their program with residents at VPH, giving them a first glimpse of the tour repertoire.
The halls came alive with violins and rich harmonies as the musicians performed a 45-minute program of classical favourites and uplifting pieces. For more than 20 residents, it was an opportunity to experience live music up close. The response was immediate, with heads nodding, toes tapping and plenty of wide smiles.
Thank you to the Kalgoorlie Miner for covering this special moment, and to WASO for filling our halls with music. Best of luck with the rest of your tour.
