National Volunteer Week: Celebrating those who make a difference every day

During National Volunteer Week, Southern Cross Care WA (SCCWA) proudly recognises the incredible contribution of our volunteers, whose generosity, compassion and commitment make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents and consumers across our services.

We celebrated our volunteers this week with a breakfast in Kings Park, where long‑service volunteers were acknowledged for their valued contributions.

SCCWA offers a wide range of volunteering opportunities to suit different interests, skills and availability. Volunteers support residents and clients through social visits, group activities, pastoral and spiritual care, bus outings, respite centre programs, mental health community services, pet visits, and compassionate end‑of‑life companionship through our No One Dies Alone program.

Each role, whether large or small, plays an important part in creating connection, comfort and moments of joy for the people we support. We recognised

Long‑serving volunteer Peter Jack has contributed more than a decade of service to SCCWA. Beginning as a teenager helping with fundraising events, Peter continues to volunteer today through pastoral care, supporting residents’ spiritual wellbeing and offering companionship and connection.

During National Volunteer Week, SCCWA extends its heartfelt thanks to every volunteer who gives their time, energy and compassion in service of others, and encourages anyone interested to explore volunteering opportunities with us
