Explore our Home Care Packages

Help at home looks different for everyone and the types of services available to individuals can vary depending on the level of support they have been approved for.

Southern Cross Care WA is an accredited provider offering a range of services through Government-funded care via the Support at Home Program, Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), Restorative Care or self-funded privately.

What are the different types of Home Care Packages?

There are now eight levels of Government-funded in-home care under the Support at Home Program and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), designed to better match services to each person’s individual needs.

These levels help bridge the gap between basic support and more complex care, ensuring people receive the right help at the right time.

Support ranges from level one, providing minimal assistance for daily activities, through to level eight, which offers the highest level of in-home and palliative care for people with advanced, chronic, or terminal conditions.

Each person receives funding based on their assessed care needs, and can be reassessed at any time if those needs change.

Understanding the programs available

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is a Government program that supports older people who are still managing well at home but want some extra assistance. CHSP services are subsidised by the Government, but individuals may be required to contribute to some of the cost.

Southern Cross Care WA offers a range of home and community care services under CHSP including:

  • Personal care: Help with bathing or showering, dressing, hair care and going to the toilet
  • Cleaning
  • Social support individual: In-home companionship/social visits
  • Social support group: Run in a community-based group setting at our respite centres in Forrestfield and Hilton
  • Cottage respite: Centre-based

*The Commonwealth Home Support Programme will continue to operate as usual and is expected to transition to the Support at Home program no earlier than 1 July 2027.

Support at Home program

The Support at Home program is a new government program. It will bring together current programs, such as Home Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care, into a single, simplified program. The aim is to help clients live independently at home for longer.
