SCC’s Paradise Quays development update

The City of Swan has acknowledged that it faces a shortage of aged care facilities and services into the future, and has appointed Southern Cross Care to develop an integrated aged care precinct in response to the City’s needs for the City of Swan community.

The precinct will combine the very best in contemporary aged care and lifestyle options including independent living apartments alongside a contemporary residential aged care offering that will include age in place serviced apartments, specialist dementia residential care and residential respite care.

We developed our masterplan first and foremost with the aged care needs of the City of Swan and local Ballajura community in mind, in addition to applying leading-edge aged care design in consideration of other factors including site topography, interface with Emu Swamp and proximity of existing residential and commercial sites.

We appreciate the concerns and feedback of the Lake Estate Action Group and to date, a SCC representative has met with the Group on several occasions to discuss the proposed development. As part of our ongoing consultation process, we will continue to communicate with all stakeholders, including the residents in the City of Swan to ensure we are meeting the needs and expectations of the wider community.

Community consultation sessions for the Age in Place development at Paradise Quays are planned to occur in late March. Ongoing consultation will occur, prior to us lodging our Development Application for the site. We have appointed experienced community engagement experts Element, to manage the community consultation process on our behalf.

Importantly, our community consultation process will provide means for us to understand how to meet the needs of local residents. Community will be asked to provide their feedback through online surveys, face-to-face meetings and community information sessions. We will be communicating with the local community shortly with further details about the community consultation, and this information will also be available on our website.
