Affordable housing for over 55’s a step closer at Ridgewood

December 12, 2017

A range of affordable housing options for over 55’s at Ridgewood, being developed by Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc. (SCC) in partnership with the Department of Communities, became another step closer to reality after the formal announcement today by the Minister for Housing, the Hon Peter Tinley AM MLA

The first stage of the development, which is located on the corner of Lukin Drive and Hinchinbrook Ave in Ridgewood, will include the release of affordable freehold house and land packages through our development partner Pindan.  In the future, further options in affordable homes will also be available.

SCC CEO Errol Turner said the Ridgewood precinct was being developed in response to the high demand for more affordable housing options for over 55’s in the local area.

“We understand the challenge for over 55’s is to find housing that is affordable and suits their lifestyle needs. Our Ridgewood development is unique in that it offers affordable home ownership opportunities for over 55’s looking to downsize or who may have been priced out of the property market in the past,” Errol said.

Errol said residents can also have peace of mind knowing they can take advantage of the broad range of in-home health and wellness services offered by Southern Plus, if or when they need them in the future.

“Southern Plus offers a range of integrated innovative health and wellness services, while also having the option to collaborate with various health professionals.  In doing so, we are able to more broadly meet the health and wellness needs of our clients, ensuring they enjoy quality of life and remain independent and living in their own home for as long as possible,” Errol said.

The first stages of the development including civil works, is expected to begin in early 2018. For further information or to register your interest in the house and land packages please visit
