Victoria Park Nursing Home - Kalgoorlie

Description

Victoria Park Nursing Home is located at 1 Croesus Street, Kalgoorlie, WA, 6430.

Victoria Park Nursing Home caters for 22 residents in a heritage style, purpose built building which features bright and cheerful rooms. The reception area has one large parlour area and one smaller parlour area which includes tea and coffee making facilities and is often used by friends and family when visiting.  24 hours a day care is offered to all residents.

The ground on which the facility now stands was originally a community park given the name Victoria Park in 1898 in memory of Queen Victoria.  In 1968 the Victoria Park Aged Care Home was opened to the public by the Little Sisters of the Poor.  The facility was upgraded in 1997 and Southern Cross Care took ownership in 2009.

The Kalgoorlie Hospital and Path West Kalgoorlie Laboratory are just over 1km away, with another medical centre the same distance.  Victoria Park Nursing Home is within 300 metres of St Mary’s Catholic Church and only 1.5kms from Hannan Street and the Goldfields Highway.  It is also co-located with Victoria Park Hostel and the onsite parking makes visiting convenient for family and friends.

Victoria Park Nursing Home provides short term respite accommodation, from one day to a number of weeks, providing peace of mind for carers.  It can also be an important step in the smooth transition of the care recipient into permanent placement.

Pricing

Residential Aged Care Fees

When entering aged care, the Centrelink assessment of your assets and income determines what you may need to pay towards the cost of the accommodation and services. You may be asked to pay a basic daily fee, a means tested fee and an amount for your accommodation. The basic daily fee is to cover living expenses such as meals, power and laundry. The means tested care fee contributes to the cost of your care and you may also be asked to pay an accommodation contribution to either fully or partially cover the cost of your accommodation.

Paying for residential aged care can seem complex and we are here to help you navigate the options available to you based on your situation.

Accommodation Payment Options

Residents have a choice on how they wish to pay for their accommodation. Residents are required to complete a Centrelink assessment which determines eligibility for Government financial assistance for their accommodation.

  • Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD), which is an upfront amount paid by a resident for entry into residential care, or
  • Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP), which is a daily payment amount, or
  • A combination of RAD and DAP, which is where a resident makes an upfront payment of a portion of the RAD and the remainder is paid as a DAP. For illustrative purposes, this has been shown in the table below as 50% RAD and 50% DAP.

The table below shows the RAD and DAP costs as well as the figures of a 50% RAD and 50% DAP.
