Southern Stars Staff Awards

As part of its ongoing commitment to excellence, Southern Cross Care has developed an integrated rewards and recognition program for its staff across the organisation. A key element of this program is our “Southern Stars” program which recognises staff excellence and achievements in key areas aligned with our service delivery and core values.

Providing $1000 to the winner of each award, the categories are as follows:

Sponsored by some of Southern Cross Care’s key partners, the Southern Stars Awards have four categories:

• Excellence in Care & Service Award (sponsored by HESTA)
  The Excellence in Care & Service Award is awarded to staff who show excellence in their care of our residents or clients or service to a resident, client, or family member.


• Innovation & Ideas Award (sponsored by Brownes)
  Recognising new ideas and different ways of working, the Innovation & Ideas Award is aimed at generating ideas for improvements to the way we work or in outcomes for a resident, client or internal customer.


• Leadership on Show Award (sponsored by Zenith Insurance)
  The Leadership on Show Award is awarded to a staff member who is considered to show leadership to their colleagues through their actions and/or the way they had approached a situation.


• Safety (sponsored by RiverAbilities)
  Awards will be given to staff who contribute to improved safety outcomes for residents, clients and/or staff through their service and generation of innovations in safety practices.
