Southern Cross Care
About Us
To understand and appreciate Southern Cross Care one needs to be aware of its proud history. Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc was established in 1966 by the Knights of the Southern Cross — a Catholic lay organisation. Originally known as Southern Cross Homes, the development of the BF Prindiville Retirement Village in North Perth was the first project undertaken by the organisation.
The visionary strategy adopted in Western Australia was subsequently emulated across the country to the extent that today there are similar organisations in every state of Australia. Whilst each state organisation is totally autonomous the group collaborates on national issues.
In Western Australia the organisation has continued to grow with the most recently completed developments being the Southern Cross — Shelley, Southern Cross — Forrestfield and Southern Cross — Success.
Today, Southern Cross Care WA delivers services across the state including 497 high and low care beds in residential facilities, over 500 units in retirement villages and nearly 1,000 clients serviced through our community care services. We employ in excess of 700 Western Australians.
