Community Care
Services for Carers
We Care for the Carers
Our respite houses give carers desperately needed time-out. Overnight respite at Success House and Vincent House can be an extension of the day, offering 24 hour care from Monday to Saturday. Carers can take advantage of all or part of that time. We also offer in-home respite and help with appointments if carers are unable to be there.
A carer in need
Carers can overstretch themselves and often need support themselves. Our Mental Health Respite Support Services will give you relief from your responsibilities as required. Some of our services include:
- Companionship for outings
- Overnight or daytime in-home respite
- Assistance with appointments
- Help with daily activities
- Support clients to participate in recreational or community activities
These specialised services are available in Joondalup, Mirrabooka, Osborne Park, Subiaco, Armadale, Fremantle, Rockingham, Kwinana and Peel.
For more information, call the Southern Cross Care Mental Health Co-ordinator on (08) 9282 9966.
The Employed Carers Innovative Pilot provides practical support to employed primary carers of frail older people (65 years + mainstream, or 50 years + Indigenous) including people who may have dementia and / or challenging behaviours. We are able to assist with the management of appointments and / or tasks that would require carers to take time off work, such as GP appointments, specialist appointments, organising and attending pathology tests (blood tests, x-rays etc), pharmaceutical management, hairdresser, dentists, optometrists appointments, and some social activities.
Carers are able to access this innovative program if they:
- Are employed in a full-time, part-time or casual basis, or
- Have definite (substantial) plans to return to work, or
- Are currently undertaking related vocational training or study.
Please contact Community Care on (08) 9282 9966 and ask to speak to our key workers for further information.
